Logo design contest on creating the visual identity of the COST Action the Geography of New Working Spaces and the Impact on the Periphery

On behalf of the Chair and Vice-Chair, the Leader of Horizontal Activities of COST Action opened a call for graphic designers to prototype an Action logo last December 2, 2019.

The contest was open to any student from universities and organisations included in the Action.

The selected group of contest winners will be awarded by fully covered three days meeting in Milan (Italy) where they will present the winning design of the logo to the Management Committee members of the Action. The second Management Committee members’ meeting will be held from 12 to 14 February 2020,

The winning logo design will be posted on the Action website and will be posted on the Facebook page, and the artists will be identified in both channels.

Who We Are:

The Action is a research and mobility network run by 26 countries around Europe funded by COST – the European Cooperation in Science and Technology. It covers more than 70 professionals and experienced and young researchers from universities and coworking centres.

The logo and brand shall express positive and inspirational ideas for creative collaboration and production. Ideally, it should align with the COST logo (not necessarily in the same shape or shades of colours).

The logo shall follow and be based on a graphical adaptation of the text ‘new working spaces’ applying state-of-the-art graphic design approaches. In addition, it may incorporate an image or abstract ornament, happy colours with a strong emphasis on the spirit of growth and development opportunities.

The participant shall submit two versions of the logo, i.e., monochrome and coloured, at least in two required formats, i.e. vector (.ai, .eps, .pdf) and raster (.jpeg, .gif, .png). The logo is supposed to be used on the Action website, Facebook, and printed materials.

The COST logo in several versions is available at the link below. COST logo package

By submitting a proposal, the student agrees to use the logo for the competition. The selected winner will sign a license agreement to use the work.

The winners were Alessandra Pellarano, Silvia Caldi and Alessia Petra Epifano, currently students at the Politecnico di Milano.
